MEDIA // LES MISERABLES {AT} THE OSCARS

The only reason I sat through a very mundane and forced jokes was watching the Les Miserables cast perform. And it was all worth it. I'm so happy that Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting, sad that Hugh Jackman didn't win Best Actor. Nevertheless, amazing performance by the cast. If you aren't a fan of musicals - you will be after you watched this movie. Bravo.

TRENDS // PREP TIME

Tartan, plaid, and all things checkered with the colour combinations of blue, black, red and green have a tendency to make everything more preppy. (As one could call it.) I don't think the preppy trend ever really disappeared but during NYFW it was given a much needed extra shot of life. Gone are the days of Britney's Baby One More Time outfit that will only be a faint memory (and hopefully that look should only be seen on Halloween). Now it has graduated to Parisian chic. And I for one could not be anymore happier! Add it with a halo braid and you are set. And let's not forget the comeback of pleated skirts. Yes!!! I am totally loving Fall 2013! (Best one yet!)

MUSIC // GIRL ON FIRE

I prefer the Grammy's version with Adam Levine. (Just saying...)

Happy Tuesday! I'm working on a couple of more trends posts from NYFW. Though, I feel like I'm falling behind as LFW is drawing to a close and we move to Milan.

MONDAY STYLE FILE #17

If JGL was dorky cool... what could Andrew Garfield be described as? Geeky-boy-next-door-turned-superhero-cool, perhaps? (Oh that could work!) Andrew Garfield is the new Spiderman and I really like his portrayal of the character. It just fits him, not forced, it just fits like a glove. His style could be seen as down to earth along with his girlfriend, Emma Stone. Too adorable, I must say. He dresses down most of the time but when he needs to dress for the red carpet he adds his quirkiness to the mix: a mix of patterns here and there or if not, his signature hair is there to add something.

Happy Monday.

TRENDS // ORANGE BE GLAD

As Fashion Week moves to London... I decided to do some round-up of one of the interesting trends I've seen on the runway in the Big Apple. Orange. Orange. It reigned supreme in the see of  blacks, whites and grays. Quite a surprise since orange is rarely associated with the fall/winter collection. But, nevertheless, I'm excited to see the range of orange in the fall.

What do you think of the pop of colour?

RUNWAY // 3.1 PHILLIP LIM FALL '13

Probably one of the most anticipated runway shows I was looking forward in seeing after falling in love with his Pre-Fall collection. Oh Phillip Lim, why are you so awesome? I'm head over heels in love with the teal over-sized coat and I am determined to have that in my closet come this fall. Oh and the boots wouldn't hurt either. But anything from this collection I would love to have. *hint* *hint* Phillip Lim does minimalism in a sophisticated manner in the best way possible.

RUNWAY // PRABAL GURUNG FALL '13

Prabal Gurung for Target collection was released last week and during the weekend he had his NYFW show. This might be one of my favourite collection thus far... with its structured silhouettes, army inspired theme, unexpected details and his signature choice of floral fabrics... What's not to love? My favourite look would probably have to the be chunky knitted army green sweater (2nd below - right). I can just picture myself wearing that all bundled up on a cold winter's night. This collection had the recurring theme of NYFW Fall 2013 - strong yet delicate. Structured yet dainty. While some may argue that this may not be his best collection... he is heading in a good direction with his brand and I am excited to see what's to come.

STREET STYLE // NYFW FALL '13

Leave it to the fashion-goers at New York Fashion Week to display what to wear during a big snow storm that cancelled flights to and from New York and city workers going overtime to clear up the snow that mother nature gave us. Style takes precedent because after all it only happens twice a year and it's the time you need to dress to impress. All eyes are watching... here are some of my favourite street style that were spotted around New York. So... how would you dress during New York Fashion Week? Fur coats, umbrella, or better yet have your guy carry you

Happy Monday!

RUNWAY // BCBG MAX AZRIA FALL '13

If I ever had to pick my favourite fashion memory... it would be when I was 8 years old... my favourite thing to wear was wearing my dresses or skirts over pants with chunky boots. But then like any trends... it faded. UNTIL NOW... New York Fashion Week is upon us and BCBG Max Azria F/W 13-14 Collection is so nostalgic to my childhood style. Layer upon layer upon layer in the most amazing prints you can find and to top it off with an over-sized beanie. What a dream collection for me. I'll have to admit though the first time I saw the collection, I was slightly confused but as I had a second look - I began to re-love it.

EVERYDAY STYLE // VINTAGE FRENCH

My outfit from Friday. Toronto got hit with another cold front. Please, can spring just come? I am so over wearing my down coat and winter boots. I'm ready for light jacket and cute layers. Work has been crazy especially this week... I was running around the city picking up and returning items for shoots. But the best part probably had to be the amazing packages we've been receiving as of late. Burberry, Altuzarra, Alexandre Vauthier, Fendi, Ferragamo... just to name a few. Oh! My dream closet.

Now a bit about this outfit. I've become a big fan of vintage. I've been looking for the perfect bow tie for awhile now and about 3 months ago I saw this bow tie. I fell in love with the colour and everything. The lace top was from Paris by a brand called Kookai. I wanted to carry it over to my winter wear so I decided to wear it over top my Club Monaco shirt. The fedora was bought a couple of years ago from Aritizia. I really should wear it more often.

MONDAY STYLE FILE #16

I decided this week - let's talk about the boys. I feel that men's style have come along way from polo shirts and khaki pants... now guys are more daring to wear printed shirts and coloured pants. My favourite guy's style is Joseph Gordon Levitt. He does dorky cool so well. His outfits are always fun but he can also pull of wearing a nice black suit and tie. His GQ cover was just sweet perfection. :)

You are very welcome, ladies. Happy Monday!

PINSPIRATION #3

Valentine's day is just a week and a half away... so I'm feeling a bit romantic.
Pretty dresses, paper hearts, golden sparkle and Paris rounds up my pinspirations :)
