CAPTURED // DINKY & SURAJ GETS MARRIED

It seemed like it was just yesterday when we were altogether in Toronto talking about being at each other's weddings. Fast-forward to 2014 and here we are in Chicago for our dearest Dinky's wedding day. It was a special trip not only for Dinky to say 'I do' but it was a reunion for the Toronto family with everyone disperse across the continent it was finally nice to be reunited in one city, even if it was just for a short time. It was like nothing changed.
This was my first Indian wedding and it was much more than I expected. Seeing and experiencing a different culture and traditions was just unbelievable. Prior to the wedding, we knew that since we were going to an Indian wedding, we might as well go all out. And so we did... Jenny, Dons and I headed to buy ourselves some sari's... of course Dons and I went overboard and bought everything you can imagine that one needs for an Indian wedding... bangles and bling galore.

TRAVEL // CHICAGO

Chicago became part of my childhood summer routine, right before going back to the Philippines. We would drive across the bridge to Detroit from Windsor & fly 45mins to Chicago & spend several days there to hang out with my cousins, shop & eat some deep dish pizza. But that ritual stopped when we moved to Vancouver. So, the last time I went to Chicago was when I was 16... probably the best summers I had as far as traveling was concerned (another story, another day).
So after a decade & a bit, I finally made my way back to the Windy City for my dearest friend's wedding (which is another post to follow). I managed to cram as much as I could for the little time I had. I flew in on Thursday evening & of course my flight was delayed by 30mins. I arrived at around 7:30 (Chicago time - 1hr behind) & it took about 15mins to wait in line & to clear customs. Another 5mins to walk to the train station. It was about a 30min train ride from Midway to State/Lake station and another 10mins walk from the station to the hotel. By the time I got to the hotel I was exhausted and the hunger settled in. Here's a tip, if you're are flying in from Midway spend $3 vs. $40 taxi ride.

RUNWAY // ALL HAIL KARL

Seriously... all hail Karl Lagerfeld.
And his pure creative genius.
I've longed admire Lagerfeld's runway shows - it's just beautiful masterpieces one after another.
There's just no words.
.
.
Who would have thought that the supermarket can be fashionably fun?
It is now with the latest Chanel runway that showed in Paris Fashion Week last week.
Lagerfeld turned the Grand Palais into a Chanel Shopping Center.
And each of the products of the shelves were branded with the double C's.
No details were left untouched.
What a masterpiece!
I just can't wait to see what awaits us for his next runway showing.

Like I said... all hail Karl Lagerfeld.

'til next time... c

RUNWAY // I'M GOING TO BE A CHLOE GIRL

Paris is by far my favourite fashion week of all the other fashion weeks.
It has the je ne sais quoi that I much adore.
And also... my top brands are always showing in Paris so...

By this fall... I would like to be a ChloĆ© girl. I cannot tell you how muuuuuch I love this collection.
Nothing to extravagant. Just simply timeless. Just simply Paris.
I love the silhouettes, the creams and pastels contrasting with the blacks and the bold patterns.
The ruffles on the dresses to allow flawless movements.
And let's not forget the shoes and oversize clutches.
It's imperative that I have something for this collection. Imperative.
I do have my eye on the that black & white coat. *dreams*

TRENDS // WILD WILD WEST

It seems like Country is coming back with a big bang! I started to notice this trend when I went to Boots n Bourbon opening for work in November. Shockingly, it was the first saloon in Toronto and a week after another opened up in the west end. So... I think it's time for us to grab our cowboy hats and get ready to do some square dancing - because it seems like this trend has also trickled onto the runway.

It would actually be a dream to be invited to see Karl Lagerfeld's runway shows especially for Chanel. It's always grandiose and extravagant - and you can never be disappointed. The Pre-Fall 2014 collection was a bit surprising but at the same time it wasn't. The collection took place in the good old Texas, in the Dallas' Fair Park, the home of the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition and a National Historic Landmark.

The collection reminded me of the 1930's where dresses weren't as full

I just had to include Karl's muse Brad Kroenig and his adorable son Hudson.
